Do you find yourself in need of extra seating for your kitchen? You need extra places for your family to sit but you dont want the area to look overcrowded and you dont want to take away from the overall look of the room. One solution would be to add counter stools to your kitchen. Counter height stools are great at adding extra seating while maintaining the charm of a room. Some people may confuse counter seats with bar stools but the difference is the height of the stools.
Types, sizes, shapes and designs. Designs and styles of counter stools have a significantly diverse range. According to the materials of which they are made of, there could be wooden, fiberglass, plastic and metal (steel or wrought iron) versions available in the furniture stores. Many of them are made with a combination of leather or fabric seats. Although most of these stools are without backrest or arms, some designs include them to add to the comfort. As for shapes, the stools could again be quite different. They could be round or square shaped. They are usually higher than any other stools used in homes. This is because they need to conform to the height of the kitchen or bar counters. With a touch of modern design and style they may have swivel and wheeled options for turning or moving along the counter length. Many of the modern stools offer further flexibility and comfort by providing adjustable reclining and height options allowing even children to use them when necessary.
What are they used for? As the name implies, counter stools are used where counters are available. In a home interior setting, if you have kitchen counters or bar counters, these provide the most appropriate seating arrangements. While they are mainly used for taking breakfast, snacks or a round of drinks, other uses of these stools make them very appealing. Their placements and comfortable seating/turning arrangements allow reading or writing and enjoying entertainment sources like music or television.
You can see that a 44 inch counter height would give more leeway for people who are a little larger. There is also the problem of people who are taller. They often need taller stools. They need a higher foot rail in order to comfortably rest their feet. Otherwise, they are forced to stretch down and put their feet on the floor from the height of the stool.
34 Inch Counter Stools Are More Comfortable. Builders are now going for counter heights of 45 inches or more. With these heights, the 30 inch pieces are simply too short for most people. They put people with their faces too close to their plates if they are eating, and too close to their beverages if they are drinking. It can make people feel as if they are children again.
The Foot Rail Location Must Be Comfortable. One aspect of the comfort of the counter stool is where the foot rail is located. On most of them it is about halfway from the floor to the seat. When the person falls within the average range of heights and the kitchen counter is at a height of about 40 inches to 44 inches, the halfway rail is pretty comfortable. It prevents the person from having to try to reach the floor with their feet, or from being cramped trying to keep their feet on a too-high foot rail.
